A Journey within a Journey

A Journey within a Journey

We are fast approaching the final quarter of 2016.  As usual – the common phrase from me: Time Flies.  Perhaps I should ease up on using this phrase – not sure if it is a good thing or not since as we all know – the more we focus on one thing, the more we make that into reality.  So saying over and over again “Wow, how time flies” will only make it go faster. Is that good or not – well, depends I guess. Like everything else .. it is relative.  Anyway .. my usual letting my thoughts wander as I write.

Back to the topic I started off with today – a Journey within a Journey.  I guess this is true all the time – as every moment is a journey within a journey within a journey and all.  Today as I started this off – in particular I was thinking of my trip back “home.”  Landed in Singapore yesterday – after let’s see .. left my house around 2+ PM (which makes it 10 AM – 21 Sept 2016 Malaysian time). Landed in Singapore about 12 noon (22 Sept 2016 local time) .. that makes it 26 hours in total. I think for the first time – I felt truly exhausted after an international flight.

I shall not focus on the “not so pleasant” aspects of the journey. Instead – much to be grateful for within that period.  From having a friend drop me off at the airport in Palmy thru a safe and relatively uneventful flight with nothing majorly unpleasant throughout – to landing in Changi and being picked up by a long time friend. Ahh! Can’t be anything else but “blessed.”

Immediately upon reaching JB, my hometown, was driven to meet yet another ol’ friend. And from there taken to my first meal back on Malaysian soil.  Friends being friends – of course – were kind enough to ask me what is it I want to eat. Though my body was craving for rest, I am still up for a little socialising and catching up over a good meal. I am, after all, still Malaysian – so food is a must when meeting up with friends. And what would I want? WOW! Where do we begin! One suggested curry and rice – and I was like – GREAT! That sounds wonderful. Something hot and spicy would be amazing.  So off we went to a restaurant for my first curry fish head!! Yummilicious.  It was very good – but because I was too hungry and too excited meeting with friends whom I have not met for like YEARS (well one of them at least – the one who picked me up I had met in my last round back tho didn’t get to spend much time) .. well anyway too hungry and too excited so no picture of the sumptuous food.  But I did get a picture of the dragon hanging in the shop tho :)  Good meal - and good catching up - and some very good ideas for what I need to do next. No - not need to do. What I want to do next.

After meal, it was back to the house to surprise my mom.  To that point, she had no idea I will be returning.  My friends were rather concerned it will shock her and may not be such a good idea. But I assured them my mom’s heart is probably stronger than all her kids' hearts put together.  So – off towards home. And what a surprise to my mom.  She was so surprised to see me – she wasn’t sure she was hallucinating or who was the stranger in her house.

Anyway – good surprise, overall good trip, good friends in NZ and in Malaysia, and as if that still wasn’t good enough, my friend has offered me his car for my use while I am back here – a Peugeot 306 with a huge moon roof!! Wow!! How else to describe this but to say I am simply “blessed.” I am one lucky dude that’s for sure.

So what has all this to do with the title of this entry? Well in a long winded meandering way – I am talking about embarking on this journey within a larger journey – about the trip back here and watching the universe unfold as it should .. as it will.  I plan to write about the experiences I will encounter on this journey .. one step at a time. And to give thanks every moment along the way.

Peace,
Syl
